A Legacy of Compassion Kathy Young Scholarship Endowment
Kathy Young, Henderson County Public Schools' 1995-96 Teacher of the Year, was a special education teacher at Edneyville High School. Friends of this North Henderson High School special education teacher established this scholarship in her memory. Nominations by North Henderson High School teachers may be made to the Blue Ridge Community College Financial Aid Scholarship Committee.
This scholarship is awarded with preference to a graduating senior from North Henderson who has been a special education student and has shown determination to pursue higher education despite adversity of an economic, physical, psychological, or educational nature.

Aart and Cora Van Wingerden Horticulture Technology Scholarship
This scholarship is awarded to a deserving student, not otherwise financially capable of participating in the Horticulture Technology program as a first preference; it may be awarded to a student in another agriculture-related academic major if no qualified Horticulture student applies.
AAUW Brevard Scholarship Endowment Fund
The purpose of the Fund is to provide scholarship support to a female, associate degree student (preference should be given to, but not limited to, a science, technology, engineering, or mathematics major), from Transylvania County (who has graduated from a Transylvania County high school or who has been a Transylvania County resident for at least three years). Selection of recipient shall be based primarily on merit with consideration of need.
AAUW Hendersonville Scholarship Endowment Fund
The purpose of the scholarship funds at BRCC is to provide financial support to a second-year female student whose college education has either been delayed or interrupted. The recipient will have at least a 2.5 GPA and plans to pursue a four-year degree.
Abbie Barber Scholarship
The Abbie Barber Scholarship is awarded to a student pursuing their education in order to become a teacher.
Alan Walter Enloe Memorial Scholarship Endowment
William and Elizabeth Enloe established this endowment in memory of their son Alan, a Blue Ridge Community College graduate, who persistently battled muscular dystrophy. The purpose of the Fund is to provide scholarship support with first preference given to a student with a physical disability. It may then be awarded to another if no qualified student applies.
Albert M. Moreno, Sr. Scholarship Endowment
This award was set up through the Estate of Albert Moreno, Sr., specifically requesting that the income be used to assist needy and deserving students at Blue Ridge Community College.
In 1965, Mr. Moreno invented the steel anchors used to secure mobile homes to their foundations during strong winds. He went on to invent the first anchor system for protecting sea coral, and the first system for protecting grape vines in Sonoma Valley, California wine country, among other soil anchoring systems. An outstanding community leader, Mr. Moreno served on BRCC Educational Foundation Board of Directors from 1992 to 1998. He was a firm believer in changing lives through education. Mr. Moreno felt that community colleges are one of the greatest developments in our educational system.

Albert S. Browning, Jr. Scholarship
Originally given to a BRCC student with a preference for studying woodworking, otherwise to a student studying any of the skilled trades.
Alexander F. and Laurinda C. Schenck Scholarship Endowment
Established by the Schencks in 1984, the earnings from this endowed scholarship are awarded to a Henderson or Transylvania County resident who would not be able to enroll without financial aid. The Schencks' goal in creating this scholarship was to help young people who had the capacity to make major contributions to Western North Carolina, but who could not consider education beyond high school due to financial limitations.

Established by former Foundation Director James C. Lovin in honor of his wife Alice, the earnings from this fund are awarded on an annual basis to a student pursuing an Associate Degree in Nursing.
Andy Sink Memorial Scholarship Endowment
Established by Dr. David W. Sink Jr. president of Blue Ridge Community College for 20 years, in memory of his father Andy Sink, this fund provides a scholarship for a student that is challenged significantly by a physical disability.
Ann McFadden Scholarship Endowment
To provide scholarship support to a student with a financial need obtaining an Associate in Arts (A.A.) Degree and planning to transfer to a four year program.
Anna K. Hosmer Memorial Scholarship Endowment
The Anna K. Hosmer Memorial Scholarship is awarded with preference to a single mother that is a resident of Henderson County. Anna was an honor roll student and loved working with horses. If the College ever offers a curriculum program in Equine Management, preference will be given to a student in this program.
Anne Lacy Roper Gasteiger Scholarship Endowment
This fund is to provide scholarship support for a student, with preference given to a freshman enrolled in a two-year program who maintained a yearly 3.0 grade point average in high school, and who demonstrates a financial need. The recipient must maintain a 3.0 grade point average while at Blue Ridge Community College. This scholarship may be renewed for a second year.
Anni Wilinski Horticulture Scholarship Fund
Established by Mr. Kurt Wilinski to honor his wife Anni and to help make the world a better place for future generations, this fund provides an annual scholarship for a student studying Horticulture.

This fund is to provide scholarship support for a student, with preference given to a freshman enrolled in a two-year program who maintained a yearly 3.0 grade point average in high school, and who demonstrates a financial need. The recipient must maintain a 3.0 grade point average while at Blue Ridge Community College. This scholarship may be renewed for a second year. Apple Country Antique Engine and Tractor Club, Inc., Scholarship
The Club established this scholarship with preference to a student in the following curricula: Automotive Light-Duty Diesel; Automotive Systems Technology; Collision Repair and Refinishing Technology; Computer-Integrated Machining; Electronics Engineering Technology; Horticulture Technology; Mechanical Engineering Technology; or Welding Technology. This scholarship may not be renewed for a second year.
Arthur Lockwood Beneventi Memorial Scholarship Endowment
This fund is to provide a scholarship with preference first given to a Collision Repair and Refinishing student or second to an automotive student that has maintained a high level of academic achievement and has a financial need. The recipient must either be a citizen of the United States of America or in this nation as a legal immigrant or on an F1 Student Visa. This scholarship may be renewed for a second year. Once there is sufficient income for a scholarship, additional income may be used to provide another scholarship or purchase equipment for the Collision Repair and Refinishing program.
Asheville E-Z Gardeners Scholarship
The Asheville E-Z Gardeners club provides this scholarship for a Horticulture Technology student who is studying in either the Landscape or Ornamental Plant Production pathway or certificate.
Automotive Systems Technology Scholarship
Great Smoky Mountains Region AACA established this scholarship for a student in the automotive services area at Blue Ridge Community College.
Barbara J. Gregory Scholarship Endowment
This scholarship is awarded with preference to a student pursuing an Early Childhood Associate degree.
Barbara N. Koch Scholarship Endowment
To provide scholarship support to an allied health student with a demonstrated financial need.
Benevolent, Patriotic Order of Does #258 Scholarship
This scholarship is awarded to a single mother to be used to further her education and improve the lifestyle of her family. This scholarship may be renewed for a second year.
The scholarship may go towards non-tuition items, such as supplies needed to complete coursework (examples: cosmetology kits; horticulture supplies; nursing students' stethoscopies, scrubs, etc.).

Betty and Emil Hager Scholarship Fund
This fund was established through Mr. Hager's will to provide a scholarship to a high school graduate (or equivalent) that resides in Henderson County (however, if no students apply from Henderson County, then students from Buncombe and Transylvania Counties will be considered); shows a financial need; exhibits, in the donor's words, a "good moral caliber and reflecting a good general willingness to work"; and maintains passing grades, while enrolled in a vocational program (currently Applied Technology). A scholarship award may continue throughout a program of not more than four years post-high school education. Foundation Board of Directors and their immediate family members are excluded from applying for this scholarship.
Betty Joy Jones Memorial Scholarship Endowment
This endowment was established by Betty's son Jeremy Ledford, his father Ralph Ledford, and their family to provide a scholarship with preference to a student pursuing studies in Associate Degree Nursing.
Beulah Coulter Layne and Arvel Layne Scholarship Endowment
Given in memory of the Laynes (Jo Ann Layne Brittain's mother and father), this fund provides a scholarship with preference given to a Nursing student that has a financial need.

The Blair-Santiago Family Scholarship Endowment Fund is awarded with preference to a Hispanic student.

This fund was set up for unrestricted scholarship support to Blue Ridge Community College.
Bob and Louise Dunlap Memorial Nursing Scholarship
Louise graduated from Medical University of South Carolina School of Nursing in 1952 and retired from Pardee Memorial Hospital as a registered nurse in 1987. The Bob and Louise Dunlap Memorial Nursing Scholarship will be awarded to a Nursing student.
Bolton Construction and Service of WNC Scholarship
Mark Bolton of Bolton set up this scholarship to provide for BRCC students in the construction field or skilled trades.

BRCC Workforce Development Scholarships
For registration and supplies. Flexibility was requested in the grant application to move funds around in the projected areas, depending on the specific interest:
- to assist in the cost of the Basic Law Enforcement Training Program;
- to assist in the cost of the Nurse Aide 1, Nurse Aide 2, Nurse Aide Refresher, and Medication Aide Programs;
- to assist in the cost of the Phlebotomy Program;
- to assist in the cost of various computer-related courses (e.g., PowerPoint, Excel, Adobe, Publisher, Word, etc.);
- to assist in the cost of the NC Career Readiness Certificate;
- to supplement the cost of certifications for the NC Back to Work Program;

Brevard Rotary Foundation Scholarship
This scholarship will begin with FY 2022-23 with the purpose to provide financial support to students attending Blue Ridge Community College.
Preference will only be given to the students who meet the following criteria:

- Scholarship may be awarded to students in their second year.
- Should the Brevard Rotary Club cease to exist, the scholorships will be presented by the Rotary Club in the closest geographic location, until such time another Brevard Rotary Club was established and it would revert back to the Brevard club.
Brighter Futures--Continuing Education
Blue Ridge Community College received an anonymous $2 million gift to continue its 'Free College' campaign in the form of scholarships for all college-eligible students during the 2022-2023 academic year tuition-free. This scholarship is to be a last-dollar form of support for Continuing Education students.
Brighter Futures--Curriculum
Through the extended Brighter Futures ‘Free College’ scholarship program, Blue Ridge will waive all costs for tuition, fees and books to college-eligible students who desire to begin or continue their education, including adults with some college; adults with no college; recent high school graduates; dual-enrolled high school students; and career-changers.
The tuition-free financial aid packages are made possible by generous donations through the Blue Ridge Community College Educational Foundation, state and federal funding, and grants.

Bruce Talley Memorial Scholarship
Given in memory of Bruce Talley, this scholarship is awarded to a second-year Nursing student.
Buchanan Construction Ryan Hendrix Memorial Fund
Funds were raised through a golf tournament held on Sept. 27, 2023, in memory of Henderson County Sheriff Deputy Ryan P. Hendrix, who lost his life in the line of duty in 2020.
Per the donor's wishes, these funds are to be used to support tuition, fees, and miscellaneous expenses for students pursuing the Basic Law Enforcement Training program through the Continuing Education Department here at Blue Ridge Community College.
The next BLET program will begin Feb. 2024 with approximately 12 students at approximately $1,715/student in tuition and fees.

When no qualified student in those majors apply, the award may then go to a male candidate with the same qualifications as above.

This scholarship is for assistance to students studying quality control or for fields of study which include quality control.
Carrie Roper Williamson Memorial Scholarship Endowment
This fund is to provide scholarship support for a student, with a preference given to a freshman enrolled in a two-year program, who maintained a yearly 3.0 grade point average in high school and who demonstrates a financial need. The recipient must maintain a 3.0 grade point average while at Blue Ridge Community College. This scholarship may be renewed for a second year.

The purpose of this scholarship is to provide financial support to a student attending Blue Ridge Community College for continuing education courses.
Preference will only be given to the students who meet the following criteria:
a. First priority to a resident of the Cedar Mountain area as defined by the Cedar Mountain Small Area Plan as self identified on the BRCC Scholarship Application.
b. If a resident is not available, second priority will be given to an individual who has a job or written job offer from a business in the Cedar Mountain area as self identified on the BRCC Scholarship Application.
c. Third priority to a graduate of Brevard High School or Rosman High School and attending Blue Ridge Community College for Continuing Education Courses.
d. If a Rosman or Brevard High School graduate is not available, fourth priority will be given to a student who resides in Transylvania County and attending Blue Ridge Community College. e. This scholarship is awarded to a City of Hendersonville resident with financial need and minimum GPA of 2.0.
Clarence and Frances Schneider Scholarship Endowment
This scholarship is for any student pursuing a degree or certificate in a program that has a demonstrated financial need. It is the donors' wish that the recipient demonstrates, through class load and scheduling, that they are diligently pursuing completion of their academic course of study, not just taking courses.
Cliff and Betty Dickinson Scholarship
This scholarship is awarded to a student with a demonstrated financial need.
- The Donor's preference is that this scholarship be awarded to an African-American student and/or in a manner that addresses racial disparities in the student body.
- The student must be pursuing a course of study in
- (1) an Allied Health or Health Sciences curriculum, with a preference for students in Associate Degree Nursing, Dental Assisting, Dental Hygiene, Medical Laboratory Technology, Medical Sonography, Occupational Therapy Assistant, Radiography, Surgical Technology, or
- (2) an Emergency Medical Science program, leading to qualification or enhanced qualification as a paramedic.
- May be used fot tuition, fees, books, supplies and equipment that may be required.
Connestee Falls Student Scholarship
May 15, 2024 Operating Agreement Between Connestee Falls Student Scholarship Program (CFSSP) and Blue Ridge Community College (BRCC) is as follows:
The mission of the CFSSP with regard to BRCC is to provide scholarship funds for deserving students who are legal residents of Transylvania County and attending BRCC.
The BRCC will make scholarship awards based on merit and financial need.
1. The Finance Offices in conjunction with the Financial Aid Offices of the respective institutions will administer the CFSSP's annual scholarships.
2. The recipients must be Transylvania County legal residents and have met the admission requirements set forth by each institution.
3. All applications shall include a completed CFSSP Name and Photograph Release Form which is attached to this Operating Agreement as Addendum 1.
4. The selection of the recipients and the CFSSP award amounts will be made according to the established procedures by the Financial Aid officers at the respective institutions.
5. Funds from the CFSSP are to be used above and beyond institutional aid and shall not replace, nor disqualify the student from financial aid awarded by BRCC or Brevard College.
6. This shall include situations where an institution of higher education uniformly grants cost of education reductions to qualifying students based on residence.
7. CFSSP Scholarship recipients from TCS are not eligible to receive a second CFSSP Scholarship within that same academic calendar year.
8. Scholarship recipients are required to be available with the spirit of cooperation for CFSSP promotional activities such as interviews for articles, radio interviews and video interviews and possibly a personal appearance at the various fundraising events including, but not limited to, the Donor Appreciation Event scheduled on September 5, 2024 at the CF clubhouse.
9. BRCC and Brevard College will provide the completed and executed Name and Photograph Release Form submitted by the scholarship recipient to the Educational Liaison via email within two weeks of naming the recipients.
10. BRCC and Brevard College will provide via email a list of scholarship recipients, including the payout amounts and date awarded, to the CFSSP Board Chair and Treasurer prior to November I of each year.

Scholarship recipients are required to be available with the spirit of cooperation for CFSSP promotional activities such as interviews for articles, radio interviews and video interviews and possibly a personal appearance at the various fundraising events including, but not limited to, the Donor Appreciation Event scheduled on September 5, 2024 at the CF clubhouse.
9. BRCC and Brevard College will provide the completed and executed Name and Photograph Release Form submitted by the scholarship recipient to the Educational Liaison via email within two weeks of naming the recipients.
10. BRCC and Brevard College will provide via email a list of scholarship recipients, including the payout amounts and date awarded, to the CFSSP Board Chair and Treasurer prior to November I of each year.

To promote the development of skilled tradesmen, this scholarship is designed to recognize the most outstanding vocational student. Selection is based on the student's performance while enrolled for at least one semester in his/her curriculum and on demonstrated motivation to provide quality services as a tradesman.
Don and Diane Emon Scholarship Endowment
The Emons created this endowment to provide a scholarship with preference to a student with a demonstrated financial need, and has a B average if entering from high school or has a C average having attended college for one or more semesters.
Dorothy Uhl Sawyer Memorial Scholarship
Barbara Saurborn and her sister Nancy Sawyer Stragand established this endowed fund in 2015 in memory of their mother Dorothy Uhl Sawyer to provide scholarship support for a nursing student.
Dr. Chris English Advanced Technology Fund
This fund was established in honor of Dr. Chris English, BRCC Vice President for Economic and Workforce Development/Continuing Education who left BRCC August 2020, to assume the role of President of Southeastern Community College in Whiteville, N.C. Funds are to be used for advanced technology coursework within BRCC Continuing Education Department.
Dr. Eugene M. Wittman Language and Cultural Immersion
BRCC faculty Gene Wittman created the immersion program at BRCC that sends a student for a multi-week living and study experience to a French- or Spanish-speaking country. In 1999, numerous gifts created a fund to endow a scholarship in his memory which would expose a scholarship recipient to linguistic competency and sensitivity to cultural diversity in order to compete in a world market.
Dr. Harvey J. Goehring, Jr., Memorial Scholarship Endowment
In memory of her husband and former instructor at Blue Ridge Community College, Mrs. Maude Goehring established this fund to provide a scholarship for a College Transfer student planning to teach math or science.
Dr. Stuart Glassman Scholarship for Surgical Technology
The purpose of this scholarship, established by Dr. and Mrs. Stuart Glassman, is to provide financial support to a students attending Blue Ridge Community College in the amount of $5,000, to be distributed between two years in the amount of $2,500 per year. EHHS Class of 1977 Memorial Scholarship Endowment
The scholarship is established to honor the memory of fellow classmates and is to be awarded to an East Henderson High School (EHHS) graduate. Additional scholarship requirements are a minimum 2.0 GPA, a financial need, and a commitment to community service. Elgin Veterans Scholarship
This scholarship is awarded with a first preference to a military veteran; however, if this is not attainable, the award may be made with a second preference to a veteran's dependent or spouse. The Elgin Veterans Scholarship was established by Army veteran Jim Elgin and his wife Marianne. This scholarship is for a highly motivated student based on merit and need for financial assistance. The recipient must be under age 25, be enrolled in the College Transfer program, maintain a 2.5 grade point average in the most recent term completed at BRCC, and present evidence to the Committee that he or she is highly motivated to succeed in whatever endeavor is being pursued.
Henderson County Master Gardener Volunteer Scholarship
The Henderson County Master Gardener Volunteer Scholarship is awarded with preference to a student with a financial need studying in the Associate of Applied Science Degree program in Horticulture Technology. The opportunity for an optional unpaid horticultural internship with North Carolina State Cooperative Extension is also offered.
Henderson County Mechanical and Electrical Scholarship
The original gift to set up this scholarship was to provide a $500 scholarships for each of the three trades represented by the Henderson County Mechanical and Electrical Association - Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing. The scholarships are to be given to residents of Henderson County and Transylvania County, preferably Henderson County. Beginning with FY 2011-2012, the funds were given to support two scholarships at $750 each for the trades of plumbing and HVAC. The $750 gift given in FY 2013-14 was for a scholarship in the plumbing trade.

The recipient must also be a Transylvania County resident, a citizen of the United States of America, and born after 1987. Finally, the recipient must be willing to sign a Pledge of Honor agreeing to abstain from using alcoholic beverages and illegal drugs during the time period that he or she is receiving this scholarship.

Julie Thompson Pay It Forward Scholarship Endowment in Honor of Edna and Norman Guice
This endowment is established by Julie Thompson to honor her parents Edna and Norman Guice for their years of hard work and sacrifice to assure that each of their four children would have the advantage of a college education. Julie challenges the recipient to "pay it forward" by contributing to the endowment when they have completed their education and are financially secure. The purpose of the Fund is to provide scholarship support to a Four Seasons Employee who wishes to continue their education. The student will be chosen by Four Seasons management or an internally created scholarship committee with the recipient's name given to the BRCC Educational Foundation.

June Marie Coffland Maxwell
June Marie Maxwell was born on June 4th, 1932, in Des Moines, Iowa. June moved to Springfield Missouri where she would always say she was indeed a "show me" type of person. She graduated from Burge Hospital in Springfield in 1954 as a registered nurse. After marrying, she and Joe returned to Joe's hometown of Hendersonville, NC where she continued working as an RN at Pardee Hospital.
She also worked in a Dr's office for 5 years. After moving to Andrews, NC in
1960, June took almost 30 years off from nursing to raise her family.
In 1988, June reentered the nursing profession as the manager of the Convalescent Unit at District Memorial Hospital in Andrews. In 1989, she was nominated and chosen as one of"The Great 100" registered nurses in North Carolina. She was selected based on her professional qualities and her contributions to a positive image of nursing in the community. She was not only a patient advocate, but she communicated care, compassion and professionalism to patients and their families, her peers, and the community. She also demonstrated her desire to improve the quality of patient care by teaching nine classes of nurses' aides through Tri-County Community College in Peachtree, NC.
After her husband died in 2003, she returned to Hendersonville to be closer to family. She returned to work at the Family Medical Center, where she worked until the age of 82. In all she did, she loved serving and helping others.
June would have been 91 on her next birthday. She passed away May 17th, 2023 at her home with her family.

In 1988, June reentered the nursing profession as the manager of the Convalescent Unit at District Memorial Hospital in Andrews. In 1989, she was nominated and chosen as one of"The Great 100" registered nurses in North Carolina. She was selected based on her professional qualities and her contributions to a positive image of nursing in the community. She was not only a patient advocate, but she communicated care, compassion and professionalism to patients and their families, her peers, and the community. She also demonstrated her desire to improve the quality of patient care by teaching nine classes of nurses' aides through Tri-County Community College in Peachtree, NC.
After her husband died in 2003, she returned to Hendersonville to be closer to family. She returned to work at the Family Medical Center, where she worked until the age of 82. In all she did, she loved serving and helping others.
June would have been 91 on her next birthday. She passed away May 17th, 2023 at her home with her family.

The purpose of the Fund is to provide scholarship support with first preference given to a full- or part-time employee of College Walk in a nursing program with a 2.5 (or higher) grade point average. It may then be awarded to another if no qualified student applies.

Mrs. James (Evelyn) Brush endowed this scholarship in 1987 in memory of her friend and dedicated it to a female head of household who is pursuing a degree and needs financial assistance.

Mauriene "Renee" Young Memorial Scholarship
Paul M. Young established this scholarship in memory of his wife Mauriene "Renee" Young to support students pursuing education in a nursing-related field of study. Currently, those programs include Nurse Aide, Licensed Practical Nursing, Associate Degree Nursing and the Regionally Increasing Baccalaureate Nursing (RIBN) program.
- Beginning with the academic year 2024-25, these scholarships are to be awarded to LPN, RN and RIBN students.

Melody Lindsey Phi Theta Kappa Scholarship Endowment
in 1991, the Alpha Rho Upsilon Chapter of Phi Theta Kappa national scholastic honor fraternity at BRCC initiated this endowment, along with many donors who contributed to provide scholarship assistance to a student enrolled in a two-year program, that has maintained a 3.5 or better grade point average, and has completed 33 credit hours, 20 at Blue Ridge. Financial need is only a secondary consideration. Originally named The Phi Theta Kappa Scholarship, the name was changed to the Melody Lindsey Phi Theta Kappa Scholarship 3/7/12 in memory of an admired alumnus and beloved Blue Ridge educator.

Originally called the Arvin Meritor, Inc. Scholarship, this scholarship is awarded with preference to a Computer-Integrated Machining or Welding Technology student.

This scholarship is awarded in memory of Ned Barnett, a machinist and owner of Barnett Machine Shop, a firm founded by his father in 1921. The scholarship is awarded with preference to a Computer-Integrated Machining student.

O'Cain Design Group Scholarship Endowment
This fund is to provide scholarship support for a student pursuing a career in the building trades. The Kenmure Birthday Club provides this scholarship with preference to a woman (up to 64 years of age) with preference for a full-time student who has and maintains a minimum 3.0 grade point average.
Patsy Farmer Jones Scholarship
This scholarship is awarded to a Henderson County student who graduated from one of the four area high schools. Preference will be given to a student with a financial need, and, among those, priority will be shown to those applicants that plan a career in elementary education.

PEO Chapter O Scholarship
Applicant must be a mature female student with a 2.5 grade point average or better. Preference will be given to a student planning to continue her education after graduating from BRCC. Chapter O of the Philanthropic Educational Organization sponsors this scholarship.
Philip R. Milroy Memorial Scholarship Endowment
Funded by numerous gifts and established in memory of former BRCC Trustee and Foundation Director Philip R. Milroy, this endowment funds a merit scholarship for a student that is working toward a degree leading to a career in engineering. To be eligible, the recipient must have demonstrated academic excellence in high school and must maintain a 3.0 grade point average while enrolled at BRCC. This scholarship may be renewed for a second year.
Prim/Justus Endowed Nursing Scholarship Fund
William S. and Margaret Prim established this endowment in 1992 in memory of their parents Fred S. Justus & Virginia Reticker Witt, and John S. & Lola K. Prim. Earnings provide a scholarship for a second-year Nursing student who has demonstrated a financial need and maintained a high academic average during his or her first year in the Nursing program. Preference is given to a student who is ineligible for federal assistance.
R. Hugh Lockaby Memorial Scholarship
Awarded in memory of R. Hugh Lockaby, this scholarship is supported through a donation from the Morris Kaplan Kiwanis Scholarship Fund. The recipient must be entering the second year of a two-year program after satisfactorily completing their first year at Blue Ridge Community College. Selection will be based on need and scholastic record of the first year at BRCC (high school record will not be considered)

Robert S. Manners Memorial Scholarship Endowment
The Manners Scholarship is awarded with preference to a second-year Interpreter Education student. First choice will also be given to a student that receives no other form of financial assistance. The Fund was established by Robert S. Manners' parents, John R. and Margaret J. Manners. At the time of his death, Robert S. Manners was enrolled as a student at Blue Ridge Community College in Flat Rock, NC, in the Interpreter Training Program.

Established by the late Alfred G. Vollmar in memory of his wife Rose, this scholarship is to be awarded to a Nursing student.

The Hendersonville Rotary Club set up this fund to honor former President and District Governor Nicholas Semashko. The endowment provides a scholarship for a student that would not be able to enroll without financial assistance.

The Sentinel Patriot Club set up this fund to provide a scholarship for a Basic Law Enforcement Training student.

Susan Bacon Renson Memorial Scholarship Endowment
The Susan Bacon Renson Endowment provides a need-based scholarship to a female from Transylvania County that is enrolled in the College Transfer program. The selected recipient must maintain a 2.85 grade point average. This scholarship is in memory of AAUW Brevard former President Susan Renson.

The purpose of the fund is to provide a scholarship with preference given to an Early Childhood, Surgical Technology, Associate Degree Nursing, or College Transfer student.

The Herman and Shirley Lukoff Scholarship recipient is to be a worthy, single parent of either sex; a "B" average is mandatory. To the extent that funds are available, further help should be given in three areas:

The William A. and Betty U. Keyser Scholarship Fund
Established by a charitable remainder unitrust agreement by William A. and Betty U. Keyser (now Berg) with the exclusive purpose of providing educational assistance to at least two full-time students, who are residents of either Transylvania County or Henderson County, with preference to Transylvania County, and who would not otherwise have the financial resources to pay the expenses of attending BRCC as a full-time student. Educational assistance shall include, but not be limited to, tuition and fees, books and supplies, and any other expenses normally and reasonably incurred by a full-time student at any campus of BRCC. The students selected must be residents of either Transylvania or Henderson Counties PRIOR to enrolling as full-time students at BRCC. If the maintenance of the scholarship becomes impractical or the purposes no longer capable of fulfillment, then the Foundation may use the income and the principal for the general charitable purposes of BRCC or its successor.
Thomas L. Marshall Memorial Scholarship Endowment
This endowed scholarship award is given with preference to a student with a financial need. This scholarship was established by James W. Marshall, Jr. in memory of his brother Thomas L. Marshall, who was killed in action in 1944 while serving in Italy.
Todd Thompson Memorial Scholarship Endowment
This fund is to provide scholarship support to a graduating senior from Hendersonville High School with a minimum C average or above and of good character who will be attending Blue Ridge Community College.
Ulysses Wynn Scholarship Endowment
In honor of Transylvania County resident Ulysses Wynn, earnings are awarded annually to a minority student enrolled in a curriculum program leading to an associate degree, vocational diploma, or certificate. The Transylvania Citizens Improvement Organization acts in an advisory capacity.
Valley Hill Fire and Rescue Robbie Cramer Scholarship
Valley Hill Fire and Rescue honors Robbie Cramer, their frequent visitor and friend with Down syndrome and Alzheimer's dementia. The scholarship is intended to assist a student who displays academic achievement, a commitment to serving others (in school, in the community or at home), a strong work ethic, and leadership qualities. The recipient must be a resident of Henderson County, with a financial need, who is currently a senior in a Henderson County high school and pursuing an associate degree in Fire Protection Technology, Criminal Justice Technology, Emergency Medical Science, or Emergency Management Technology. This scholarship may not be renewed for a second year.
Veterans and Families Scholarship
This scholarship is given anonymously and is awarded to a military veteran or someone in their family (spouse, children, grandchildren) in appreciation for their service to the United States of America. Then priority will be shown to those applicants wanting to major in business, health, technology or teaching disciplines. There are no specific academic requirements. To be used only for tuition and books. It is hoped that someday in the future the recipient will "pay it forward" and make a similar gift to a prospective college student.
Victoria H. and Dennis J. Flanagan Scholarship Fund
The purpose of this Fund is to provide financial support to Horticulture students. Preference will only be given to the students who meet the following criteria:
a. Student must be able to show need and have a minimum GPA of 2.25 if recent high school graduate.

Vincent Render Memorial Scholarship Endowment Fund
The purpose is to provide scholarship support to a resident of Henderson or Transylvania County who has at least a 2.0 grade point average and is pursuing a career in the skilled trades.

Wells Fargo Technical Scholarship
In October 2022, The North Carolina Community Colleges Foundation gave each of the 58 community colleges in North Carolina a $500 donation to support an eligible student(s) enrolled in an educational or technical program, with the college to award $250 for Fall 2022 and $250 for Spring 2023. The scholarship is to be called Wells Fargo Technical Scholarship. An additional $500 was received in November of 2023.

Womansong New Start PIE (Parity in Education) Scholarship
This scholarship is awarded to a female Latina student who is a resident of WNC, preferably age 25 or older with a real financial need, who has a definite plan to obtain a degree or certificate that will enable her to be employed. She need not be a U.S. Citizen or complete a FAFSA Form. Women who indicate in their essay a desire to make a significant impact or new start in the community will receive first priority. The student must maintain for fall semester both full-time status and a GPA of 2.0. She will then be eligible for continuing the scholarship for the spring and must remain a full-time student. She may receive this scholarship only once.
Womansong New Start Scholarship
This scholarship is awarded to a female student who is a resident of WNC, preferably age 25 or older with a real financial need, who has a definite plan to obtain a degree or certificate that will enable her to be employed. Women who indicate in their essay a desire to make a significant impact or new start in the community will receive first priority. World of Clothing Nursing Scholarship Endowment
A duplex gifted by the World of Clothing Foundation in 1993 was sold and the proceeds used to fund an endowment to provide a scholarship for a Nursing student.
Yes I Can Scholarship
The purpose of this scholarship is to provide financial support to a female student attending Blue Ridge Community College.
Preference will be given to students who meet the following criteria:
a. The student must be a student of Blue Ridge Community College.
b. The selection will be based on factors such as academic performance and financial need.
c. If not receiving this scholarship in the first year of college, the student must have minimum GPA of 2.0.
The receipt of the scholarship will not affect the student's ability to receive other scholarships, grants or financial aid.
